Proverbs 8
There is so much imagery in Proverbs of wisdom being better than precious things of this world.
When you get dressed do you imagine putting on wisdom like you put on pieces of your wardrobe? When you add jewelry to your best outfit do you imagine how much more valuable wisdom is then that gold necklace?
So much of proverbs is trying to prove to us simple humans that wisdom is a precious treasure to seek out.
Are we sending our kids off to Universities to find this wisdom? Do we teach it in our classrooms? Is it preached off the pulpit?
Or do we find ourselves looking to the world’s definition of wisdom, do we allow them to define wisdom for us?
Proverbs teaches us that we find wisdom and understanding in God’s word and living in communion with Christ.
Where are you seeking out wisdom? Don’t get caught up looking in all the wrong places—you know where to go. --- Does not wisdom call out? Does not understanding raise her voice? At the highest point along the way, where the paths meet, she takes her stand; beside the gate leading into the city, at the entrance, she cries aloud: “To you, O people, I call out; I raise my voice to all mankind. You who are simple, gain prudence; you who are foolish, set your hearts on it. Listen, for I have trustworthy things to say; I open my lips to speak what is right. My mouth speaks what is true, for my lips detest wickedness. All the words of my mouth are just; none of them is crooked or perverse. To the discerning all of them are right; they are upright to those who have found knowledge. Choose my instruction instead of silver, knowledge rather than choice gold, for wisdom is more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire can compare with her. Proverbs 8:1-11 | NIV
