The Art of Relying on Jesus

The Art of Relying on Jesus

I’m gonna be honest with you, running a small biz solo with my spirituality front and center is no picnic. It can be lonely, frustrating, isolating, complicated; that’s why I ✨constantly✨ have to just lay it all at the feet of Jesus.

The message from the “boss babe” side is why did you quit your “real” job that would further your career? The message from the Christian SAHM side is why are you even working?

I have been doing freelance hand lettering and design “on the side” for over 10 years and it’s all been God. Every creation, client, commission, collaboration—it’s from Him and for Him. Each step I take in this thing, I just have to trust that if He brought me to it, He will bring me through it.

Each new stage of this account I gain a couple and lose even more followers, leveling out to around the same number for years. Leaping, making mistakes, creating, learning, growing, adapting, trusting—that’s all I’m doing over here. I’d love if you stuck around / came along for the journey as I pivot my way to progress over perfection.

What I find helps immensely with all of this (and keeps my head above water some days), is a little ✨perspective✨. If you’ve been around here long enough you know that no matter what’s happening, success or failure or peace or poverty; we are here for such a short time. Yet when we focus on all the beauty and inexpressible joy we can find and experience in creation and through each other in our day to day, it’s just a foretaste of what’s to come. It barely scratches the surface of what ONE day will be like with Him.

Isn’t that our main goal in life anyways? Our worth is not in our gender, our careers, our looks, number of followers, where we have travelled, or if we are married with 2.5 kids. Our worth is in our faith in Christ and His salvation for us, so we can be with Him one day. --- Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked. Psalm 84:10 | NIV
