Blood Bought Believer

Blood Bought Believer

Yesterday we had two very good sermons via live-stream by our faithful pastor. I am so thankful for the continued preaching of His word despite the C19 restrictions of meeting together.

Our pastor loves to use alliteration, which is great for me, cause I do too! He dropped this doozy nonchalantly on us in yesterday’s message and I’ve been thinking about it ever since.

Have you ever considered that you have been blood bought? Has it sunk in that YOU are not YOURS?

Relating, have you ever considered if you were “enslaved” to something? Maybe TV, alcohol, money, pornography, white lies, your ideal BMI, being a perfect mother ... the list could be inexhaustible.

While preaching on Luke 12, he mentioned an interesting concept that I’ve heard about, that being in debt could be considered being “enslaved” by something, or to someone.

My husband and I are proud to have worked very hard to be debt free as of January, (goodbye student loans x2, car payments, CC debt etc. —although we do not own a house either, so not even “good” debt) and we regularly practice self discipline in various ways so as not to “become enslaved” by things in our lives, like we once were.

I’m curious to know how you view this, do you think it’s inappropriate for a Christian to be in debt? --- "All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are helpful. “All things are lawful for me,” but I will not be enslaved by anything. ... Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? Never! Or do you not know that he who is joined to a prostitute becomes one body with her? For, as it is written, “The two will become one flesh.” But he who is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit with him. Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body. 1 Corinthians 6:12, 15-20 | ESV
