Psalm 43
I don’t know about you, but here in Ontario we are still under Covid19 restrictions, so we have been unable to gather for worship for 2+ months now.
I am so thankful for modern technology. I can’t imagine what my faith-life would be right now without the faithful preaching of God’s word via livestream for all these weeks.
Like us, David is asking God to let His light and truth bring him to His holy hill. We can surely pray alongside David as we ask God to allow us to worship together again, with His people. David wanted to go to the tent of meeting because:
1. He knew the Lord was there in a special way
2. He knew that God’s people were there
3. He knew that it was a place where he could focus on God
I personally haven’t really been struggling with this time away from my church family (ambivert life, my introvert side has been happy as a clam), but I know many who are. It is starting to hit me though, as we are also missing out on the sacrament of Lord’s Supper in our church this coming Sunday.
But God’s timing is perfect and He has purpose for all these things.
What about you, are you able to gather for worship yet? If not what do you miss about it most? Praying that the old saying ‘Absence makes the heart grow fonder’ will penetrate into my heart to long more and more to gather with His people in church again. --- Vindicate me, O God, and defend my cause against an ungodly people, from the deceitful and unjust man deliver me! For you are the God in whom I take refuge; why have you rejected me? Why do I go about mourning because of the oppression of the enemy? Send out your light and your truth; let them lead me; let them bring me to your holy hill and to your dwelling! Then I will go to the altar of God, to God my exceeding joy, and I will praise you with the lyre, O God, my God. Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God. Psalm 43 | ESV
